"Fantasy anime" is the widest genre in AI art, and that width is the problem. Prompt fantasy anime character and the model has ten thousand directions to pick from, so it picks the most generic one: a vaguely medieval figure in a vaguely magical field. The results aren't bad — they're forgettable, which is worse.
The prompts below fix that by committing to a specific scene each time. Every one is ready to paste into the fantasy style generator and adapt. They're grouped by what they generate — characters, creatures, landscapes, and magic — because each group leans on different keywords.
What makes a fantasy prompt actually work?
One rule runs through this whole list: name the specific fantasy, not the genre. Knight is generic; a knight in cracked obsidian armor holding a lantern in a flooded cathedral is a scene. The pattern in every prompt below is subject + one distinctive detail + setting + lighting. Steal the pattern even if you don't steal the prompts.
Character prompts

Character prompts benefit most from re-use: once one of these produces a design you love, keep it as a reference image and build a whole set around it with the character consistency workflow. A strong fantasy character can also become someone to talk to — publish them to the characters directory and the design carries into chat.
Creature prompts

Creatures reward scale contrast — pair something huge with something small (the whale against stars, the spirit inside a lantern) and the image composes itself.
Landscape prompts

Fantasy landscapes make excellent wallpapers — they're built from atmosphere and empty sky, which is exactly what a screen full of icons needs. Set the aspect ratio to your screen's shape before you generate, not after.
Magic effect prompts

Magic is light, so these prompts are really lighting prompts — every one names a color and a source. Keep spell colors to two per image; three or more reads as noise.
How do I adapt these instead of just pasting them?
Change exactly one element at a time: swap the subject and keep the scene, or keep the subject and swap the lighting. Changing everything at once tells you nothing about what worked. And when a generation lands, mine it — the flooded cathedral from prompt 3 will serve a dozen other characters. Several of these prompts also translate directly to motion: the floating islands or the flying books make strong starting frames for a short animated clip.
Start with one scene
